Alasia Roero Arneis
£12.42
Araldica-Alasia is Piemonte's most forward-thinking co-operative, situated in Castel Boglione, in the heart of Barbera d'Asti territory. Here they work with 230 grower members to source quality grapes from around 690ha of vineyards. Many of their members joined the co-operative in the 1950s and have a long and loyal relationhip with the winery. They produce wines from Piemonte's main DOC / DOCG regions - predominantly Barbera, Gavi and Moscato, but also including Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero Arneis.
A fine example of the unusual Arneis variety native to the Roero region in western Piemonte. Once on the point of extinction but now happily resurrected, the grapes for Alasia Roero Arneis are sourced from vineyards on the Langhe hills in the Piemonte region. The vineyards have a south westerly aspect and are situated at altitudes between 200m and 300m above sea level. The vines have an average age of 20 years. A full-flavoured, rounded dry white with ripe pear fruit, almond and tropical notes. The palate is textural and spicy with stone fruit and baked apple characters and a savoury, lightly nutty finish. Try with a flavoursome seafood risotto topped with fresh basil and or fish such as trout, monkfish and snapper cooked in ginger and coriander.
Tasting Note:
