Domaine Des Deux Roches, Saint-Veran ‘Les Terres Noires’

Winemakers Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray of Domaine des Deux Roches have built up an impressive array of vineyards in Burgundy, today owning around 50 hectares. Across the board, their wines are among the very best expressions of the diverse terroirs of the Mâconnais.

Terres Noires is a single vineyard on the south side of the landmark rock of Solutré, where limestone soils mix with black decomposed rock. One third of this Chardonnay is matured in oak barrels for four months and it is this careful use of oak that is key to the style – a wine that is clearly a big step up from the average Mâcon, with immense drinkability.

Tasting Note:
White fruits and flowers charm the palate, followed by citrus scents and a wonderful minerality and texture from gentle ageing.
