In 1997, Michel Chapoutier set off to explore the terroirs of Australia and settled in the state of Victoria. Renowned for its distinct soils and astonishing diversity of microclimates. With vineyards in the Pyrenees and Heathcote, our goal is to create world class wines that speak of the individual terroirs in which they are grown. The Tournon Mathilda Shiraz by M. Chapoutier is named for Michel’s daughter Mathilde, as well as a reference to the Australia bush ballad “Waltzing Matilda”, often thought of as Australia’s unofficial anthem.
Tasting note:
The palate is fresh and juicy with silky and elegant tannins. Aromas of ripe black fruits and peppers. The palate is fresh and juicy with silky and elegant tannins.
