Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages Domaines des Trois Vallons

£13.55
In 1951, at the age of eighteen, Georges Duboeuf began delivering wine to local restaurants on his bicycle. Since then he has become one of the most important and influential wine producers in France. Often described as the King of Beaujolais, Duboeuf is also its most tireless ambassador, though his range now extends far beyond that region. Duboeuf still tastes hundreds of wines each day, and marshals his enormous production almost single-handed. While flower-label Beaujolais remains his empire’s most recognisable creation, one must remember he is a merchant as well as a winemaker: the company distributes numerous high-quality domaine wines not only from Beaujolais, but also white burgundies, Vins de Pays, and even a Côtes-du-Rhône.

Solid and elegant, Château des Vierres sits mid-slope, overlooking the Ardières Valley, on one of the best Lantignié hillsides. The vines are grown with great care by winegrower Jean-Marc Branche and his wife. Vinification is now entrusted to the Quincié cooperative. Cellar-master Jean Luc Chagny uses all his thoroughness and expertise in making the Château des Vierres wines: full, racy and very elegant.
