Domaine Bernard Metrat, Chiroubles, La Scandaleuse
£18.92
Domaine Bernard Metrat is a small traditional domaine of over 10 hectares of vines with small parcels of vines spread across several communes in Beaujolais. Bernard is a member of Terra Vitis, a renowned environmental certification whose members adhere to environmentally friendly production methods with the focus on sustainable development. As such vines are hand harvested with the focus on organics from pruning to picking, treating or intervening only wherever necessary.
Chiroubles is the highest in altitude and perhaps most picturesque of the Beaujolais crus. The southerly aspect delivers ripe red-fruit aromas, with hints of cola and spice (a hallmark of this wine, Bernard notes), counterbalanced by refreshing acidity and an appetising cherry-stone minerality to the finish. Try it with tartare or carpaccio of beef.
Tasting Note:
A wealth of red fruit on the palate, particularly ripe raspberry, with a hint of pepper and an excellent perfumed finish
